Sam Lynch
Sam Lynch’s new album, Outline, captures big emotions through intimate moments: a conversation outside a party, staring at a bug-filled ceiling, a lover’s touch. These songs reflect on self-discovery and unresolved feelings, creating a space for growth and new meanings within a lush sonic landscape.
The title, Outline, hints at unfinished business and the tension of unresolved loss and grief. Yet, it also looks forward, mapping out possible paths and embracing the uncertainty with a sense of hope. The album’s opening track repeats, “What are you gonna do with all the life you have?” challenging listeners to deeply explore life’s experiences.
Outline was recorded and produced by Sam and her collaborator Sean over the course of a year and a half, and includes contributions Kris Ulrich and Dylan MacDonald. Lynch’s debut LP, Little Disappearance, launched her into major venues and earned her awards, including the 2022 Western Canadian Music Award for “Songwriter of the Year.

Sam Lynch is a Vancouver based singer-songwriter, musician, and producer who makes music that will stare you down and slow your breathing. Sam’s highly anticipated sophomore album, Outline, was released via Birthday Cake Records on November 15 2024, and explores existence, isolation, and introspection with striking profundity and clarity. Throughout the tracklisting, Outline reckons with big feelings, explored by zooming in on small moments: a conversation while smoking outside a party; lying in bed, staring at a bug-filled ceiling; brushing your teeth while on the phone. Sonically, the album expands with confident screams over down-strokes and lilting drums, swirls of delicate strings, synths, and woodwinds, and up-close whispered vocals that feel like they could be coming from inside your own head.
Since the release of Sam’s debut album, Little Disappearance in October 2020, she has performed at some of the country’s biggest venues and festival stages—appearing in headlining roles and in support of artists such as Men I Trust, Andy Shauf, and Faye Webster. Sam's songwriting contributions have earned her numerous awards and accolades, including the 2022 Western Canadian Music award for “Songwriter of the Year”.
