Fuego

Miguel Ángel Durán Jr., also known as Fuego, was born in Washington, D.C. to Dominican parents. He grew up listening to his father's instrumental harmonies and listening to the timbales in Salsa and Merengue on a vinyl LP in his living room. Thanks to his Hispanic heritage, Fuego came to appreciate Latin music along with the American hip-hop he also grew up listening to, both genres becoming pillars of his sound as an artist. In 2011, Fuego released another one of his biggest hits and one of the most successful Latin songs in history, “Una Vaina Loca”. The song has been certified 8X platinum by the RIAA; has more than 800M streams across digital platforms; debuted at Spotify’s Top 200 Global and Top 10 in Spain and Latin America. Following his success, in 2015, Fuego went viral with his Spanish language rendition of Drake’s “Hotline Bling”, titled "Cuando Suena El Bling". In doing so, Fuego became a staple in bridging the gap between hip-hop and Latinx culture through his highly popular Spanish remixes, followed by the release of Yo Gotti and Young Thug’s “Rihanna”. It did an outstanding job in bringing the new mainstream to Spanish-speaking audiences, which switched from a fast-paced tropical sound to 808-heavy trap beats. In 2018, Fuego collaborated with Nicky jam for "Good Vibes" that reaps over 32 million views on YouTube and 84 million combined streams, certifying the track 2X platinum by the RIAA. In 2021, after the global success of its first edition “Una Vaina Loca'', FUEGO released a fresh new take of one of his biggest songs to date, in celebration of the mega-hits ten year anniversary. Fusing afrobeats of the early 2000’s with the classic feel of Caribbean mambo, Fuego teamed up with Manuel Turizo and Duki to deliver a modern remake of this influential track. The single made history by becoming the fastest charting release on Spotify's global chart. Credited with over 176 million worldwide streams on Spotify since its release, “Una Vaina Loca” remake has not stopped gaining popularity across the digital spectrum and has won over the market of the Southern Cone, ranking in the Top 5 in Argentina and Uruguay. The week of its release, the music video quickly escalated YouTube’s Top 10 Global trending music videos char and today supasses 63 million views. The song marks Fuego’s latest venture into reaching a wider, global audience. Early 2022, Fuego embarked on a new professional journey, in which he formalized his relationship with WK Records, and signed with the label owned by Latin music power player Walter Kolm. Since his signage, Fuego has released a series of successful singles including a new version of “Pendiente al Paso (PAP)”, with Ryan Castro, “Una Vaina Loca R3hab Remix”, “Bonita” alongside Blessd and Manuel Turizo, “Night Sky” alongside Fred De Palma, and “Luces” in collaboration with Roy Woods and Polima Westcoast.
