LET THE WILD RUMPUS BEGIN!

Get swept away by our misfit Max as they escape the confines of this chaotic world into a realm of their own design. Through embodied dance, pole performances, aerial arts, spoken word, exquisite audiovisuals, and an original reimagining of the timeless tale Where the Wild Things Are - we tame the Monsters of time, structure, obligation, and expectation. In our adult-only utopia, Max takes control and conjures a world where all the juiciest gnashing feelings and internal rumblings are not only accepted… but embraced with open hearts and minds. Forget the daily grind and get lost in our sensual, vivid and surreal fantasy where all are welcome and nothing is forbidden! Get tickets now to WILD THING by Luminesque Dance and Pole Coven - a whimsical, wondrous, and wild story unlike any we’ve ever told before - at the Capital Ballroom on July 22 + 29.

WE WISH TO ACKNOWLEDGE...

that we gratefully rehearsed for and are performing this show on the stolen land of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the unceded territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, as well as the traditional territories of the Lkwungen (Lekwungen) speaking peoples, also known today as the Songhees, Esquimalt, and W̱SÁNEĆ First Nations. We are committed to working to decolonize our business, and acknowledging the rightful owners of this land is one of many steps.

WE ALSO WISH TO ACKNOWLEDGE...

...that dance is a part of culture, which involves and intersects with many histories, geographies, lived experiences, and generational inequalities. We dance to tell stories, which makes our modality a meaningful form of art that warrants respect and acknowledgment of its origins. Heels dance as an art is inspired and informed by cultures from the African diaspora, Latin American cultures, LGBTQ+ community culture, kink culture, and the sex work profession. As participants in and appreciators of these cultures, we are committed to dismantling the systems that seek to oppress them. We do so by examining our own biases, integrating diverse perspectives, investing back into these communities, continually educating ourselves, and creating a culture of accountability with our team, students, and advisors. We believe that by encouraging underrepresented voices and bodies to claim their space onstage and onscreen, we're contributing to building a world where everyone can shine.

ABOUT LUMINESQUE DANCE

Luminesque Dance is the heels dance program and show, guaranteed to make you glow! Our mission is to provide expertly-designed heels dance training and professional dance productions that serve as an empowering, safer space to explore and celebrate underrepresented expressions of self and sexuality. We have locations all across the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples (AKA: Vancouver, North Vancouver, Squamish + Victoria). Our team is a collective of 40+ dance instructors, community builders, and trauma-informed educators.

Our PROGRESS program guides beginner to advanced dancers through the context, technique, and performance of heels dance in weekly 2-hour classes, divided into 3 levels, for 5-month terms. The cast of 400+ dancers then celebrates their growth and connection through an epic production performed for an audience of thousands of supportive fans. PROGRESS does not require dance experience or an audition to join - everybody (19+) is welcome!

If you'd like to taste that spotlight, develop heels dance skills, and connect with an inclusive community - come try a FREE class! Learn more by following us on Instagram @luminesquedance or on our website at luminesquedance.com.
