Based out of Atlanta, Georgia, the story of Lunar Vacation can be traced back to eighth grade, when Grace Repasky and Maggie Geeslin met and started sharing musical ideas. As soon as the pair became old enough to drive, they started to take Lunar Vacation on the road, playing venues across the sprawling suburbs of their home city and fulfilling so many teenage dreams along the way. As the buzz around the pair grew, so did the band, as they expanded to their current four-piece line-up, and upon finishing school, they started to self-release their music, in the shape of two EPs, Swell and Artificial Flavors. Those records saw them take their sound out across the US, touring with the likes of Remo Drive and Sidney Fish, and along the way, they caught the ear of Keeled Scales, who last week released the bands hotly anticipated debut album, Inside Every Fig Is A Dead Wasp.

Montreal&rsquo;s dancefloor aficionado&rsquo;s Blue Hawaii return to the fray with the announcement of a new EP, &lsquo;My Bestfriend&rsquo;s House&rsquo;. Channeling the energetic frequencies of post-lockdown freedom, the duo continue to provide uplifting jaunts in cohesion with the release of last year&rsquo;s acclaimed &lsquo;Under 1 House&rsquo; EP. Today the band share a first taster of fresh music, the luscious &ldquo;L.O.V.E&rdquo;.
Graced again by the inspired input of longtime contributor, saxophonist Adam Kinner, &ldquo;L.O.V.E.&rdquo; wanders elegantly through swanky bassline struts and attitude soaked lyricism. Spacious and light, the mix of live instrumentation and flickering synthesiser accompaniment feels classy and refreshingly open. The groove-inducing drumwork finds its feet quickly, sassily carrying listeners through a plethora of gliding keys and calmingly lo-fi string sections.
Raphaelle &ldquo;Ra&rdquo; Standell-Preston and Agor &rdquo;DJ Kirby&rdquo; Cowan initially crossed paths in the burgeoning underground party scene of Montreal and the duo has since blossomed from their earlier bedroom-producer minimalistic approach to explore a more organic and dance-focused sound. They uniquely assemble every aspect of their music together, even amidst an ocean of separation, with Agor in Berlin, and Rain Montreal. Reunited after a year&rsquo;s separation, Agor and Ra initially wanted to finish the recording of a darker, downtempo full-length which they started in September of 2020. However, given the energy coming out of lockdown, the pair decided to put that introspective work on hold and instead whip out a good-vibed follow-up to 'Under 1 House'. The duo headed to a cabin north of Montreal but unfortunately had to return the same night during the year's worst rain storm. With a lost trip and a potentially haunted cabin to escape, a rapid-fire series of recording sessions ensued in the next week, aided by the uncovering of a long-lost Yamaha DX7 synthesiser. Perhaps it is this condensed time frame that has made this collection of tracks so specifically electric. &ldquo;My Bestfriend&rsquo;s House&rdquo; delves into the joyous themes of togetherness, love and empathy - backed by chugging drums and hypnotic grooves. Thriving in the rare middleground of music to be enjoyed via headphones and club sound systems equally.
Blue Hawaii have been active for a decade, having released 3 full length albums and three EPs to date. The pair&rsquo;s ability to create open-armed melodies and lush vocal accompaniment has been expertly honed over this period to widespread acclaim which looks set to continue in 2022. Based across Melbourne and Sydney, the core of Haiku Hands is Beatrice Lewis, Claire Nakazawa and Mie Nakazawa. Together, they curate, perform and work as a collective of artists, engaging and exploring social norms with their lyrical and visual content. Their influences range from hip-hop to pop, electronic to dance, and everything beyond.
Haiku Hands brought their singular, rebellious, and outright fun sound across multiple continents over the past two years. On the heels of their breakthrough performances at the UK&rsquo;s Great Escape, Haiku Hands has been touted by NME as &ldquo;Australia&rsquo;s most electrifying pop prospect&rdquo; and &ldquo;a thrilling pop hybrid&rdquo; who combine the pure pop attitude of Charli XCX with the energy and swagger of The Beastie Boys.

The group recently released their debut self-titled album in September 2020 on Spinning Top Records (AUS/NZ) and Mad Decent (US). Their album received rave reviews from Rolling Stone, the Guardian, Clash, NME, and more. In 2020, Haiku Hands wrote an exclusive song for Blumhouse Production/Universal for their blockbuster Freaky with Vince Vaughn. Most recently, Haiku Hands announced the release of their digital deluxe debut album along with new track &lsquo;Conclusions&rsquo;, available now for pre-order on limited edition black vinyl.

S. Carey is the moniker of Eau Claire, Wisconsin-based multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer Sean Carey, commonly recognized as the drummer, backing vocalist, and second-longest serving member of Bon Iver. Over the past decade, Carey has fostered his flourishing solo career via themes of nature and sustainability, songwriting built from jazz beginnings, and heartfelt, emotive lyricism. His latest and fourth album, Break Me Open, adds to a discography of three full-length releases, two EPs, and countless collaborations.

As S. Carey developed his songwriting and producing talents, he was commissioned by Will Arnett to write the track &quot;Rose Petals&quot; for his Netflix series Flaked, co-wrote &quot;Hold The Light&quot; with Dierks Bentley for feature-length film Only The Brave, contributed to Sufjan Stevens' album Carrie &amp; Lowell, and has produced for and written with the likes of Low, Mike Kinsella, Pieta Brown, and Ed Tullett of Novo Amor. Carey and his adept band of longtime friends and collaborators celebrate their 12th year of touring everywhere from international headline shows to intimate living room performances to theater stages.

The Southern California punk revival band Pulley was formed upon vocalist Scott Radinsky's departure from , brought about by that band's desire for a singer with a full-time focus on music (Radinsky is also a major-league relief pitcher and has played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, among others). Pulley's initial lineup included drummer Jordan Burns (also ex-), who was in the pre- band with Radinsky and also gigs with ; guitarist Jim Cherry, formerly the bassist of ; guitarist Mike Harder, who served a brief stint in ; and bassist Matt Riddle, formerly of . Pulley's debut, Esteem Driven Engine, was released in 1996 by Epitaph; Riddle joined full-time afterward and was replaced by Tyler Rebbe. Follow-up 60 Cycle Hum appeared in 1997, and their eponymous third album in 1999. Cherry exited Pulley's lineup before the guys began work on fall 2001's Together Again for the First Time. (Sadly, he passed away as the result of a lifelong heart condition the following summer.) As their first album without producer Ryan Greene behind the controls, Matters -- produced instead by Matt Hyde (, ) -- followed in April 2004. By this time, the band comprised Radinsky, Harder, Rebbe, drummer , and guitarist Jim Blowers.
