Important Information
Jade LeMac
Jade LeMac has a magnifying glass on pop music’s soul. With the strength of her pen, the Vancouver-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist paints a melodic world that embraces all the vulnerable layers many choose to hide. Jade’s signature combination of emotive lyrics and tender vocals, along with her advocacy for the queer community, has propelled her as one of the most intriguing artists of pop’s new generation. Her honesty drives her new EP, It’s Always At Night (out via Warner Music Canada / East West Records)
The diaristic set reveals Jade’s innermost thoughts once the lights are off. “As soon as the sun goes down and it's nighttime, I'm alone in my bedroom. I feel my emotions one hundred times harder, and the thoughts just flow into my head,” she says. “The title It’s Always At Night reflects the various emotions of each song that are more accentuated at night.”
Jade’s impassioned storytelling has set her apart since her career beginnings, and It’s Always At Night adds new chapters. The EP was built on the artist’s guitar, whose poetic riffs were amplified by her longtime production partner JVP to bring an even bigger pop sound to the new music. One of the EP’s most endearing treasures is the vocal choir woven throughout, which happens to be Jade’s friends and family. Their presence is a reflection of the artist’s humanity, as she proudly takes her loved ones along her career’s joyride.
The artist kicks off the EP with lead single “Running Home”. “No matter the places you go, I’ll always follow / Never let you be alone / I’d have no shoes on my feet / I’d go till they bleed / If I’m what you need,” Jade assures just before the chorus comes crashing in and expounds on the breathless measures she’ll take for her lover. “It’s a song about reassurance,” she says. “Telling them that no matter what happens, no matter how you feel or what happens between us or in life, I'll always run home to you.”
Jade’s vulnerability builds on “Pink Balloon,” one of her most intimate ballads to date. “I'll pray upon the fullest moon and hold onto your pink balloon, and I promise I'll never let it go,” she whispers as a somber piano melody holds the weight of her tears.
The artist shares her fears on the tender “Sleeping with the Lights On”. “How the hell are you so fine, while I’m out here losing my mind?” Jade wails as she grapples with heartbreak. “This was the first song where I really discovered my sound when it comes to writing on guitar,” she says.
It’s Always At Night continues to contemplate throughout the witching hour, as Jade is hypnotized by newfound romance on “Heaven’s Sake”, and further experiments with cinematic songwriting on “Sweet Dreams”.
“‘Sleeping with the Lights On’ is another one of the singles I think is another one of my favorites. It's a lot of my team's favorites, also. This one is definitely a vulnerable song, a heartbreak song. I would imagine this one being the before of ‘Heaven's Sake.’”
Jade’s love for music was sparked by her close-knit family’s deep love for karaoke. Growing up in a household with her cousins, aunt, uncle, and grandparents living downstairs, the cousins would form bands and sing karaoke (Adele’s “Someone Like You” was her go-to song). The artist’s keen instinct for songwriting blossomed at an early age. At 9, she began writing a mashup of different pop songs and quickly found her storytelling niche. By age 12, Jade taught herself how to play guitar and keyboard and frequently wrote original songs. The first was titled “Please Stay by My Side”, a glimpse into the poignant singer she’d soon become.
“I've just been singing since day one. I had that little kid love for music, and it just never went away,” Jade says. “Everyone told me I was good. I just believed it, and I kept it going. I'm very grateful to everybody who was supportive of me, and they definitely all helped me get to where I am today.”
At 14, Jade entered the EDM scene, lending her voice to various dance singles for electronic label Monstercat. The experience encouraged her to rethink the definition of “genre” in her own music and fearlessly transcend its boundaries.
In 2021, Jade released her breakout single “Constellations”, which she began writing at age 15. Baring her soul about how deep she’s fallen in love, its universal feeling captured the hearts of listeners worldwide, amassing millions of Spotify streams to date. The song quickly became a pop staple, landing syncs in Tubi’s 2024 movie, Sidelined: The QB and Me, and Netflix’s My Life with The Walter Boys. In 2023, the artist released the Constellations EP, featuring anthems like “Aimed To Kill” and “Meet Me In Hell” that showcased an edgier, vengeful side. Jade followed with 2024’s Confessions EP, continuing to experiment with her songwriting and singing techniques.
Throughout her career, Jade has stayed true to both her music and herself. Along with sharing music on TikTok, where she’s gained millions followers, she hasn’t shied away from embracing her queer and Vietnamese identity and sharing her personal life with fans. “I've been out since I was 12, and being part of the community was a big part of me getting my first fan base,” Jade says. “But I've always been very proudly out. It’s just a reflection of me. I've written so many songs that are obviously queer, and I love it. I just write from the heart.”
Her genuine nature has been recognized by critics and peers alike. In 2022, she was featured in GLAAD’s 20 Under 20 and earned an Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist nomination at the 2024 GLAAD Media Awards. She’s also received copious critical acclaim from outlets like Earmilk, Wonderland, Teen Vogue, Ones To Watch, Flaunt, Pop Dust, and more.
In 2025, Jade’s musicality shone on festival stages like Lollapalooza, (even opening for ROLE MODEL’s notable after-party that saw Olivia Rodrigo as a special guest), and Osheaga. She’ll also be going on a full North American tour with Maren Morris with more exciting opportunities to come.
As Jade continues to excel with "It's Always At Night, representation and sonic exploration will remain at the forefront of her music: “I really challenged myself to find a pop sound that feels authentic to me. I was able to accomplish that with this music, which I'm proud of.”
