A vehicle for singer/songwriter Michael Taylor (aka M.C. Taylor) and multi-instrumentalist and recording engineer Scott Hirsch, Hiss Golden Messenger's fusion of classic rock, folk-pop, and sparse blues in various guises has seen Taylor compared to the likes of lo-fi legends Bonnie "Prince" Billy and Bill Callahan. While one of Taylor's first statements as Hiss Golden Messenger, 2010's Bad Debt, was a stark, home-recorded voice-and-guitar session, most of the work he created with Hirsch was more ambitious, blending a range of roots music flavors with the emotional palette of Taylor's songwriting, swinging from introspection to giddy joy, with 2013's Haw and 2016's Heart Like a Levee documenting him at his most expressive.

<div>No straight line to follow, no seasonal sound &ndash; his cosmos is too big to dive through it within an hour. Born in the late 70&rsquo;s he was influenced by Depeche Mode, the sound of Visage and Kraftwerk. Right after he slowly discovered the world of Drum and Bass and later emotional techno material with the little extra. With &ldquo;Jittery Heritage&ldquo; he started many moons ago to create his own style, full of melodies and open soundscapes. A lot of releases and remixes on well known imprints from all over the world followed and a lot of long nights in the clubs.</div>

Whether DJ, radio host, event organizer, label collaborator, curator and producer, Niki moves along with spontaneity, and a get things done ethos. As a DJ, she&rsquo;s gradually amplified a signature sound fluidly grounded in deep, progressive, up and downtempo ranges. What carries her sets has less to do with genre and more to do with isolating a mood, and building up different currents around it. Her love for selecting and spreading these moods has seen her found Deep House Vancouver, join the Quetame label ranks, host the Allure show on Frisky Radio, and produce sets for channels around the world, sprinkling the pages of United We Stream, trndmsk, Deep House London and Balance Series. Niki also curates Souq Record&rsquo;s glistening annual compilation, Mirror for the Sun.</div>
