About the Event

Étienne de Crécy's journey from punk bassist to Paris sound engineer to a pioneer figure in French electronic music has spanned over three decades. Best known for his Super Discount album, which defined the French Touch movement in 1997, de Crécy has continued releasing groundbreaking music, making him a standout in the French Touch genre even today.

De Crécy’s musical journey began in the 90s at Paris’ +XXX studio, where he met Philippe Zdar. The two formed Motorbass, producing *Pansoul*, an album celebrated as an early French interpretation of Chicago house. *Super Discount*(1997) soon followed, showcasing the talents of artists like Air and Alex Gopher, and further elevating the French Touch alongside Daft Punk.

De Crécy evolved his style with *Tempovision* (2000), which leaned into electro-soul. He then released *Super Discount 2*(2004), which embraced a new acid-infused sound, resonating with Electroclash fans. In 2015, *Super Discount 3*expanded his collaborative range, featuring artists like Kilo Kish and De La Soul.

Alongside collaborations with Baxter Dury on the *B.E.D.* album and his After EPs, de Crécy's immersive, visually captivating live performances, such as Beats ’n’ Cubes, further solidified his reputation. With a dynamic DJ career, de Crécy remains a celebrated and evolving artist, committed to pushing boundaries in electronic music.

As he readies new releases in 2023, de Crécy reflects on his career with the same passion, exploring new sounds weekly, saying, "It’s amazing."
