The Dirty Nil:
Juno Award-winning Canadian trio the Dirty Nil play a staggeringly loud, blown-out mélange of hard rock and punk with hoarse, raw vocals. Self-described as a "rock & roll band" and not a punk outfit, they toured for years before releasing an album, winning themselves a spot on the Warped Tour without ever compromising their ideals. Seasoned by years of road work, the Dirty Nil's debut album, 2016's Higher Power, was a rough but muscular approximation of their live attack, while their third album, 2018's Master Volume, was more refined but no less swaggering. Two years later the band issued the punchy Fuck Art, which included the wry and explosive single "Done with Drugs."
Daniel Romano's Outfit:
An insightful, subtly witty, and prolific Canadian singer/songwriter whose music reflects a mix of Nashville's countrypolitan era, '60s psych rock, and a host of other eclectic influences, Daniel Romano earned widespread acclaim with the release of his 2011 album Sleep Beneath the Willows, which made the shortlist for the prestigious Polaris Music Prize. Signing with New West Records , he continued writing and releasing albums at a rapid pace, turning out additional highlights like 2015's If I've Only One Time Askin' and 2017's Modern Pressure. In 2020 he released a slew of albums via his own You've Changed Records , including How Ill Thy World Is Ordered.

His last record, “Modern pressure” received outstandingly high acclaim and praise from every notable publication out there and was acknowledged by most reputable “for-profit-prize-corporations” as well as a plethora of voguish “music-as-competitive-sport” year end lists. Despite being the bronze placeholder in most of these dogfights, he is most often noted as a person of astounding influence on all of his musically economic successors.
