Pinebarren

Hailing from Vancouver BC with members from across the world, Pinebarren mix a multitude of influences to create nostalgic/modern indie rock. The band blends a myriad of styles and eras, mixing and matching everything from glistening new wave keyboards, ambient vocals and muscular post-punk basslines to anthemic arena-pop. Friends Michael Ferraro, Allard van der Knijff, Adam Terris and Jinmo Kim formed the band in 2021, working throughout the COVID-19 pandemic to hone their sound and style before releasing their first single, Without the Weather in the spring of 2022. They officially welcomed Paco Ha to the group on Saxophone in 2024. They released their debut album, Past Time on March 4 2023. The band found inspiration for the album by exploring the emotions felt by reflecting on memories of people and places from their formative years. It also looks inward at the challenges of pursuing a creative life as a career. Past Time was recorded at Vancouver’s Monarch Studios and produced by the bands lead vocalist and guitarist Michael Ferraro. The album was followed up by the release of the single "What You Gave”, produced by Danny Craig of Rock Is Dead Records on July 7 2023.

In 2024, they completed their first West Coast tour and shared the stage with artists like Sam Roberts Band, Dear Rogue, Texas King, IllScarlett and Yukon Blonde, playing shows at the 2024 Grey Cup Festival, The Pearl, and The Cobalt Cabaret. In 2025, they won the 604 Records Battle of the Bands showcase, and performed at the 2025 Summerlight Festival.

They plan to release their new album “Arbutus” in 2025.
