Originally from Vernon, British Columbia, Christopher Atkins grew up sneaking off to the garage late at night to write songs. His latest songs feel like they’re hiding away; often melody-driven, melancholic reflections that feel personal yet universal. The songs draw from golden-age folk heroes like Rodriguez or Neil Young, while nudging against modern contemporaries like Andy Shauf or Adrienne Lenker. Atkins’ upcoming project focuses on DIY, post-workday songwriting and analog recording in his communal basement studio, Hole in the Floor, with the collection of songs created there titled ‘Cutting a Hole’.
