JAD

JAD evades definition accidentally, intentionally. A direct reflection of an artist caught between identities, unwavering in its right to exist in the in-between, JAD's music follows suit. Born in Canada to Lebanese immigrants, his work explores the complexities of identity, navigating the space between cultures and belonging.

JAD first gained attention with his 2017 album, "Still Life". His sound, which evokes the raw, vulnerable lyricism of artists like Elliott Smith, Tamino, and Jeff Buckley, led him to record two singles at the late Elliott Smith’s New Monkey Studio before adopting a more independent, DIY approach. This path has earned him critical praise, including a spot on Exclaim!’s "The Eh-list!" for his self-produced 2022 single, "Don't Let the Sun Set on Me". He continued this momentum with the 2023 single "Say What U Want," a collaboration with producer Michael Watson (fanclubwallet).

Deeply introspective and empathetic in his attempt to understand, JAD interrogates the semantics of love and connection in an age of apathy and influence. By way of stark vulnerability, he expresses intricate and nuanced emotional circumstances with prescience and lucidity. Creating a sound that is profoundly resonant, JAD intends to remain undefinable and unconfined in the exploration of his world; elusive in his attempt to understand. He is currently working on his second album.
