Electric Religious

Electric Religious is the project of Treaty-6 based, Métis singer-songwriter, Brandon Baker. Deeply influenced by the psychedelic sounds of Jimi Hendrix, Baker took his moniker from a Hendrix quote: “When I get up on stage, that’s my religion. I am electric religion.”

The guitar-driven pop-rock music of Electric Religious has been described as “bursting with inspiration, insight, and hope.” His single “Hard Skin” was among the CBC Searchlight Top 100 in 2022, and his full-length album Tragic Lover was selected among CKUA Radio’s “Top 100 Albums of 2021," on the heels of his nomination for Métis Artist of the Year at the 2021 Summer Solstice Indigenous Music Awards. Singles from that album, “One More Night” and “Catherine” rose to #1 on the Indigenous Music Countdown and hit #1 on Sirius XM’s Ch. 165 Indigenous People’s Radio. Another previous single "Revolution,” also made the CBC Searchlight Top 100 in 2019. In 2022, Baker undertook an 8-date tour of Japan, supported by a FACTOR Juried Sound Recording grant and the Canada Council for the Arts. Other performance highlights include an official showcase at NXNE (2023), an official showcase at Canadian Music Week (2022), and the World Music Festival with Digging Roots (2022). His upcoming third album, The Taste, will be released in January, 2024.
