Jessica Jalbert has been performing under her own name since the early 2010’s with her 2011 release Brother Loyola. With 2015 album Cosmic Troubles, she transitioned to the Faith Healer moniker, and solidified her creative partnership with Montreal's Renny Wilson, releasing follow-up Try ;-) in 2017. Sole contributors Jalbert and Wilson built those albums from the ground up with an insular design, adding overdubs and sculpting the sound in Wilson's home studio. The core Faith Healer duo expanded their membership for the first time on 2023's The Hand That Fits The Glove, inviting additional musicians into the picture and filling out the sound with a live band feel. Players from various intersections of Canada’s indie circles played on the album, including contributions from long-time Faith Healer collaborators like Jenni Roberts (touring bassist with Peter Dreams), Mitch Davis (a solo artist with work out on Arbutus, touring bassist for TOPS), Conor Donaldson (Mac DeMarco), and Ross Nicoll.
